Day 271

A hazy sunny day in Dingle today. It was nice while it lasted: it's pretty cloudy now.

Wednesday 27 February 2013

Day 270

I stopped on a beach this evening to take some photos of the surf, and I scared the bejaysus out of these birds. Luckily I got a shot before they were gone.

Tuesday 26 February 2013

Day 269

Working at home today, so I get to procrastinate by cooking dinner and making photography puns about sharp focus on knives.

Monday 25 February 2013

Day 268

Photographing the moon is difficult: you either get the exposure right for the moon, or you get the exposure right for the rest of the frame and the moon looks like the sun. The only solution I can see is to take it as a composite image, which is what I did here. One exposure for the moon, and one for the silhouette of the cow against Dun Laoghaire.

Sunday 24 February 2013

Day 267

The snow wasn't widespread, and it didn't last all that long, but I did enjoy this lad's joie de vivre in the face of his inevitable demise.

Saturday 23 February 2013

Day 266

It's snowing. Not only that, but it is snowing incredibly heavily, and the world has turned white. I'd worry for the flowers that thought spring had arrived.

Friday 22 February 2013

Day 265

I was looking around for a photo on Baggot Street, and I looked down, and there it was. This blog was always about delighting in the shots that previously I wouldn't have taken, so today was a huge success!

Thursday 21 February 2013

Day 264

Unexpected day off at home, so I went as far as Enniskerry graveyard. I'd been there before, and I'd photographed this angel before, but I couldn't resist her, and with my new longer lens I got a very different shot of her.

Wednesday 20 February 2013

Day 263

I drove back to Dublin from Dingle tonight, and as I was leaving the peninsula the mountain was on fire. A long exposure gave some interesting effects in the flames.

Tuesday 19 February 2013

Day 262

Another day of sporadically beautiful weather in Dingle. After work I hopped in the car and headed west to catch the sunset. I was out of luck for an actual red disc moment, but I'm pretty happy with the result nonetheless.

Monday 18 February 2013

Day 261

First day in Kerry this year, and for a while this evening it was a beautiful evening.

Sunday 17 February 2013

Day 260

I said goodbye to Dublin again for another work rotation in Kerry. Pity, because it was a very nice day in Dublin today.

Saturday 16 February 2013

Day 259

Back in the RDS this evening to see Leinster dispatch a poor Treviso side. It was my first trip there with my new Canon, and the combination of the longer lens and the continuous shutter mode had me giddy by the half. My lens is only a 5.6 at 135mm, so I needed to shoot at ISO1600. I didn't shoot RAW though, which is just as well as I took almost 400 shots.

Friday 15 February 2013

Day 258

A trip to the Dublin Film Festival this evening for the premiere of a film that I edited last year, and a very pleasant meal afterwards with the family of our subject.

Thursday 14 February 2013

Day 257

A lovely sunny start to the day, and I took a wander around the retail park across the road from me. I was looking for a different view of Three Rock, but I couldn't find a good one. I did however find this image, in a small flood on an abandoned section of the development. By now you've probably realised that I like water and reflections.

Wednesday 13 February 2013

Day 256

My love is in league with the freeway. Its passion will ride, as the cities fly by, and the tail lights dissolve in the coming of night, and the questions in thousands take flight.

Tuesday 12 February 2013

Day 255

Today I slept late, had a lovely late breakfast, then took a stroll around the historic walked city of Derry. No, wait! Sorry, today I worked all day in my hotel room, then drove home in the dark.

Day 254

Other Voices has finished in the Glassworks, and when the flight cases were taken away today this awesome picture was revealed. I know it's not the greatest photo in the world, but I just couldn't leave it behind.

Monday 11 February 2013

Day 253

The Peace Bridge in Derry: proof both that I left the Glassworks for more than five minutes, and that it stopped raining today.

Sunday 10 February 2013

Day 252

We did a show, people played, it was good. Other than that I've no idea: a lot of people were shouting stuff..........so very tired..............

Friday 8 February 2013

Day 251

It's Friday, it must be Derry. Other Voices has arrived in the Glassworks, and the old girl is looking well.

Thursday 7 February 2013

Day 250

It's the day before Other Voices starts in Derry, and it's all about the hearts in the Glassworks.

Wednesday 6 February 2013

Day 249

This shot is exactly as shot: shooting in to the sun, with only a polariser on the lense, and I'm thrilled with this result.

Tuesday 5 February 2013

Day 248

Never mind four seasons in a day, it's four seasons in an hour here today. We've had snow, rain, wind and sun in the last sixty minutes.

Monday 4 February 2013

Day 247

Working in Dun Laoghaire again today, and I took the opportunity to take a walk down to the marina. I'm amazed now at how I ever survived without a polarising filter: the difference it makes on a sunny day is incredible.

Sunday 3 February 2013

Day 246

Home again, and it's a day for rugby and still life with apples.

Saturday 2 February 2013

Day 245

Last day in Chamonix, and it snowed heavily for most of the day. Not a great day to be trying to kill six hours while waiting for the transfer back to the airport. Somewhere in that cloud is Mont Blanc.

Friday 1 February 2013

Day 244

Oh what a miserable day: raining steadily, with heavy cloud on the mountain. Confined to quarters I am, listening to the rain on the roof and giving thanks that I brought an extra book.
